Baler Skatepark is a PHP 39-million, world-class public skatepark in Brgy. Calabuanan, Baler, Aurora — endorsed by Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal and Skate Pilipinas president Carl Sambrano as the best skatepark in the Philippines. Covering 6,155 sqm, it comprises a main skate park, a dedicated pump track, and a skate plaza, making it the most complete skateboarding facility in the country outside Metro Manila — and the proven venue for international competition.
What Is the Baler Skatepark?
Built by the municipal government of Baler with DPWH funding, the complex is a free public facility designed for skateboarders, inline bladers, BMX riders, and scooter riders at every skill level. Three distinct riding areas — the main concrete skate park, a pump track for flow and speed, and a skate plaza — give riders variety across one site. The 400-seat grandstand seats a proper crowd for competitions, and the on-site amenities (CCTV, sound system, athlete lockers, public toilets, water supply, standby power) are built to international event standards. The park opened in August 2023 and has already hosted some of the most significant skateboarding events ever held in Southeast Asia.

International Competitions Hosted at Baler Skatepark
In just a few years since opening, Baler Skatepark has established itself as one of the most significant skateboarding venues in Southeast Asia.
Inaugural SEA Street Skateboarding Competition (February 2024)
Baler hosted the first-ever Southeast Asian Street Skateboarding Competition — a landmark moment for Philippine skateboarding and for Aurora province. The Philippines earned a three-medal haul at the competition, held right here at the Calabuanan park.
In the men’s finals, 19-year-old Renz Gelig took silver with a score of 197.16. Baler’s own Mak (Renzo Mark) Feliciano claimed bronze with 194.22 — skating on home turf in front of a hometown crowd. Olympic skateboarder Margielyn Didal competed in the women’s finals, finishing third with 128.62 points.
17th Aurora Skateboarding Competition (February 2026)
The 17th annual Aurora Skateboarding Competition — organized by the Taga Baler Skateboarding Community in partnership with the Provincial Government of Aurora — ran from February 13–15, 2026, supported by Vans Philippines. Three days of street skating brought competitors from across the country to the Baler Skatepark.
1st ADC Rollerblade Competition (February 2026)
The inaugural Aurora Day Celebration Rollerblade Competition (February 7–8, 2026) marked the first competitive inline skating event ever held in Baler — another discipline formally welcomed into the park’s growing competition calendar.

Renzo Mark “Mak” Feliciano — Baler’s own
The most celebrated local skateboarder to come out of Aurora, Renzo Mark Feliciano has represented the Philippines on the regional stage twice at the Baler park itself. He earned silver in the Men’s Street Skateboarding event at the 30th SEA Games (Philippines, 2019), and followed that with a bronze at the inaugural SEA Street Skateboarding Competition held in Baler in February 2024. Seeing him compete and medal at his home park is one of those moments that makes Baler’s skate scene feel genuinely special.
The pioneers — skating in Baler since 2000
Skateboarding arrived in Baler around the year 2000, brought to life by a small founding crew: Roderick Andal, Johenes Angara, Neil Rojo, Edsel Bernardino, and Ricomar Porqueriño. Over two decades, that scene quietly grew from street spots and handmade obstacles into the Taga Baler Skateboarding Community (TBSC) — the club that now organises the annual Aurora Skateboarding Competition and helped lobby for the world-class facility that exists today.
Margielyn Didal
While not from Baler, Olympic skateboarder and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal has competed at the Baler park and has endorsed it publicly. Her presence at Baler events has helped put Aurora on the international skate map.
The Surf-Skate Culture Connection
Baler has long been known as the birthplace of Philippine surfing — but the town’s board culture doesn’t stop at the ocean. Skateboarding and surfing share the same crowd, the same mindset, and increasingly, the same faces. The skatepark is a natural extension of what draws people to Baler in the first place: technical terrain, flow, and the freedom to move. Many riders surf morning sessions at Sabang, then head to Calabuanan in the afternoon to skate the pump track or work on street lines — afternoons are when the park really comes alive.

Three riding areas give you options depending on your discipline and skill level. The main concrete skate park has rails, ledges, banks, and transitions for technical skating. The pump track is a dedicated flow circuit — perfect for building speed and rhythm without pushing, useful for skaters, bladers, and BMX. The skate plaza offers a more street-style environment. Surface quality throughout is good — this is a government-built facility maintained to competition standard.
Afternoons are the main session time — that’s when most of the local skaters show up and the park has its best energy. Morning sessions are possible too, and tend to be quieter if you want more space to yourself. Entry is free. Bring your own equipment — there is no board or blade rental on-site. Skate shoes are strongly recommended, and bring water. The Aurora sun is intense.
