Can’t find your answer? Message us on Instagram or Facebook @kahanabaler, or text +63 998 857 4851.

What is Kahana Baler?

Kahana Baler is a cozy, family-run bed & breakfast nestled at the foot of a hill in Cemento, Baler, a few minutes from Cobra Reef — one of the Philippines’ most iconic surf spots. We offer thoughtfully designed private rooms, a nourishing daily breakfast, and a warm, Bali-inspired space to rest, surf, and enjoy slow, mindful living by the sea. Alongside nightly stays, we host retreats, creative workshops, and intimate gatherings. The name “Kahana” is inspired by the aloha spirit of Duke Kahanamoku, widely considered the father of modern surfing.

Where are you located?

We’re in Cemento, Baler, Aurora — right across the road from the shoreline and a mangrove sanctuary, with Cobra Reef breaking just beyond them, and just a few meters from the Baler Fish Port. From the Fish Port you can take a scenic walk with a panoramic view over Sabang Beach. Diguisit Beach, known for its white sand and rock formations, is under 10 minutes away. It’s quiet here, tucked between the hillside and the sea, far from Sabang’s buzz but still close to all the essentials.

How far are you from the beach?

We’re not beachfront, but the shoreline is just a few steps away, with tide pools, rocky shores, and a mangrove sanctuary right across the road — especially magical at sunrise or low tide. For sand and a swim, Diguisit Beach is under 10 minutes away by car or tricycle.

What rooms do you offer?

We have 13 private, air-conditioned rooms, each with an ensuite bathroom (hot & cold shower): 5 Mini Suites (for 2), 3 Premier Suites (for 2), 1 Junior Suite (for 3), 1 Deluxe Suite (for 2–4), 1 Deluxe Loft (for 4–6), and 2 Group Suites (for 6, with bunk beds).

How much do rooms cost per night?

Nightly rates start at ₱2,800. As a guide: Mini Suite from ₱2,800, Premier Suite ₱4,000, Junior Suite ₱4,000, Deluxe Suite from ₱3,800, and Group Suite from ₱5,600. Every stay includes daily breakfast, swimming pool access, free parking, and Wi-Fi in common areas. See our Stay page for current rates and to book.

What’s included in my stay?

Every stay includes daily breakfast at our café; one set of towels and linens (extra sets on request for a fee); Wi-Fi in shared areas; free parking; access to the yoga deck, garden lounge, swimming pool, and common areas; and surf and travel tips from our team. In line with our low-waste approach, we don’t provide single-use toiletries, so please bring your own.

What amenities do you have?

Private air-conditioned rooms with ensuite bathrooms, daily breakfast, Wi-Fi in common areas, an open-air yoga shala and garden lounge, hammocks and slow-living spaces, surfboard racks and outdoor showers, a swimming pool, a fully equipped common kitchen available for rent, and an on-site café serving great coffee — don’t miss our Coconut Mango Matcha Latte. We’re also pet-friendly.

Are there surf spots nearby?

Yes. Cobra Reef is our home break — a world-renowned right-hand reef break with fast, barreling waves, best suited to experienced surfers and great to watch from shore. There are other spots nearby too, which we’ll happily point you to when you arrive. If you’re just starting out, Sabang Beach is about 15 minutes away with surf schools and gentle, sandy-bottom waves.

How do I get to Cobra Reef from Kahana?

The reef is across the road from us, but getting to the break isn’t a straight walk down to the water. The way in is an unmarked trail through the mangroves — easy to miss, and muddy underfoot, so wear slippers or crocs rather than going barefoot. Most visitors never find it. Our guests go with someone who knows the trail, the tides, and how the break is working that day. Tell us the night before and we’ll sort it out.

How do I get to Kahana Baler from Manila?

By car, it’s about 5–6 hours via SCTEX, Pantabangan, and into Baler. On Waze and Google Maps we’re still listed under our old name, Kahanamoku Bed & Breakfast, so search that to find us. By bus, take the JoyBus or Genesis Bus from Cubao to Baler Terminal, then a 15-minute tricycle ride to our door in Cemento.

How do I get to Kahana Baler from Sabang?

It’s a quick 10–15 minute tricycle ride from Sabang — just say “Kahana sa Cemento” and the locals will know where to take you. Tricycle fare is usually around ₱120–₱150 depending on the time and availability.

How do I book, and do you accept walk-ins?

Book directly through this website, message us on Instagram or Facebook @kahanabaler, or text +63 998 857 4851. We recommend booking in advance to secure your room. We do accept walk-ins when rooms are available, but it’s best to message us first to confirm.

Are you pet-friendly?

Yes! We welcome one pet per room, as long as you bring their own bed or kennel. To keep our space clean and comfortable for everyone, pets aren’t allowed on the beds — a ₱500 cleaning fee applies if this isn’t followed.

What is your cancellation and rebooking policy?

We follow a strict no-cancellation policy: once a booking is confirmed, it’s non-refundable. We do allow a one-time rebooking, subject to availability, for valid reasons such as severe weather, medical emergencies, or urgent family emergencies (proof may be requested). Change of mind doesn’t qualify. Rebooking requests must be made at least 48 hours before check-in, and the new dates must fall within 3 months of the original booking. See our House Policies for full details.

Do you host retreats and group bookings?

Yes — we host retreats, workshops, company team outings, and intimate events alongside regular stays, with a yoga deck, open spaces, and natural surroundings that bring people together. To plan a retreat or collaboration, message us on Instagram @kahanabaler or email hello@kahanabaler.com.

Can I host a retreat or collaborate with you?

We love working with teachers, facilitators, creatives, and teams building something thoughtful. For retreats and collaborations we offer flexible space for yoga, movement, and group circles; private air-conditioned rooms; nourishing breakfasts and local meal options; and help with local logistics and surf guidance. We’ve hosted sound healing sessions, surf camps, corporate team building, and wellness immersions, and we’re always open to new ideas. Message us on Instagram @kahanabaler or email hello@kahanabaler.com to start the conversation.

What wellness sessions do you offer?

We put wellness experiences together to suit the guest or the group. Depending on your dates, that can include yoga and movement sessions, sound healing and reiki, breathwork, and nourishing drinks and meals from our café. Message us before your stay and we’ll tell you what’s running while you’re here, or arrange a private session.

How do you approach sustainability?

We keep things low-impact where we can. We’ve cut single-use plastics, which is why we don’t hand out single-use toiletries — please bring your own. We also ask guests to go easy on water and energy while they’re with us. Small choices, but they add up on a coast like this one.

Do you have a café or restaurant on-site?

Yes — we have a small, wholesome café that serves the daily breakfast included with your stay and stays open until lunch. For dinner, we’ll happily point you to Baler’s local favorites, and for groups or retreats we can arrange special meals.

What activities can I do at Kahana?

Plenty of ways to slow down and reconnect: surf at Cobra Reef, explore the mangroves and tide pools, take a boat tour, walk to the Fish Port for sunrise, join a yoga or sound-healing session, lounge by the pool, practice in our skate bowl, take photos in our Bali-inspired spaces — or simply disconnect and do nothing.

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"FAQPage","@id":"https://kahanabaler.com/faq/#faq","mainEntity":[{"@type":"Question","name":"What is Kahana Baler?","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"Kahana Baler is a cozy, family-run bed & breakfast nestled at the foot of a hill in Cemento, Baler, a few minutes from Cobra Reef — one of the Philippines' most iconic surf spots.
